The Atlas shawl is cast on with just a few stitches and is worked with increases on every right side row until you've reached your desired size or run out of yarn!
This uncomplicated design is perfect for showing off a special skein of hand spun yarn. Atlas is flexible in terms of gauge and yardage. The pattern includes a guidance for choosing a needle size to match your yarn, as well as instructions for weighing your yarn to determine the amount needed for the border tows and bind off. The sample shawl was knit with 8 oz. of bulky weight thick and thin Merino yarn on US 10.5 needles
You receive a PDF download of the pattern, and two 4 oz skeins of natural white Merino thick and thin yarn. Shipping within the continental US is included in price. Contact us if you would like to purchase outside the US as there will be addition shipping.
Spin to Knit a Heelless Spiral Sock - Video Workshop with Pattern
This video workshop, was initially created by Pam and Virginia to go with a complete workshop in a bag. Right now our supplies are running low, so we are offering just the tutorial and pattern, you supply your own fibers! This will give you all the inspiration and instruction to spin the yarn for your own wonderful no fail spiral sock. You will also get the pattern as a pdf file.
The pattern is simple to follow, uses an easy spiral pattern ( just knit and purl stitches) and was created to accommodate various weights of handspun. Be creative, you can dye your fiber, knit a solid color sock, or create a different color cuff, or you can easily add a heel if you like, but we love the ease of the heel-less sock as it fits all sizes.
This is a workshop that works equally well for first time sock-ers, as well as the more experienced. We have geared this to be successful and fun, no matter what your experience level, and have added more advanced challenges for those who seek them!
We use nylon that we blended into our fibers for strength. We do have White Nylon Fiber available for sale, but you can spin your fibers without it and still have a wonderful warm sock to wear or give as a gift.
